Wireless PCMCIA card .

Step 1:

Identify a free PCMCIA slot.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In this guide we will look at installing a WiFi PCMCIA card into your laptop. Firstly identify a free PCMCIA slot. It will be located on the side of your laptop.

Insert the card into the PCMCIA slot, taking care to orient it correctly. Push in firmly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next, take the PCMCIA card and insert in into the available slot, taking care to orient it correctly. Push in into the slot firmly.

Windows XP will automatically see your new piece of hardware.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Windows XP will automatically see your new piece of hardware. A pop up balloon should appear in system tray in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. This states that your machine has "Found New Hardware".

If prompted, insert the CD that came with your network adapter.

 

 

 

 

 

 

If prompted, insert the CD that came with your network adapter. The CD will run you through installing the relevant software.

Verify your network adaptor is installed by checking your network properties.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your network adaptor is now installed. To make sure it is working correctly go to your desktop, locate the My Network Places icon, move the mouse pointer over it and click the right mouse button. A menu will appear; move the pointer down and select Properties by clicking the left mouse button.

 

Step 6:

Your new network adaptor is has been added to the list of available network adaptors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A new window will open and will display an icon called Wireless Network Connection. Success! You will see that the wifi card you installed has been added to the list of available network connections.Your WiFi Network adapter is now correctly installed.
